About Grand Hotel

Veblungsnes, located on the other side of the Rauma river, was considered the “centre” of the place. Tourism was already an important industry, and the first tourist boat called at Åndalsnes in 1883.

The hotel burned down in 1940, but was later rebuilt. In 1996, the 4th and 5th floors were added, and large parts of the building renovated. In 2000, the other floors and rooms were also refurbished. The Grand Hotel has been renovated in several stages afterwards, all the hotel rooms and conference rooms in 2012 and 2015 and is today a modern course and conference hotel where all 86 rooms maintain a good standard. In 2019, a new restaurant, Restaurant La Vue, was built.

Although the hotel today appears in a new guise, it is still possible to relive history all the way back to the 19th century. Our unique picture collection can be viewed on the walls on all floors, and bears witness to times with both famous guests and high activity in the local community.

Next door to the hotel is Rauma Kulturhus
